Wise words from Art Katz
Manifestations of supernatural power are perplexing the Church in every nation, with many asking, “Is it God?”
We are not in a position to condemn categorically as deception ostensible benefits to which many testify. God is always free to bless whom He will bless.
However, for myself, I would choose to keep my distance from strange supernatural phenomena of the kind that is presently circulating in the Church, trusting that whatever I might be missing is not greater than what I am protecting and cherishing, trusting that the Lord is not offended by a carefulness that would rather err in a jealousy for His holiness than to risk subverting what has already been given as pure and true.
Art Katz. Anatomy of Deception p47-48
Wise words but let us not offend in any way at all; let us trust that the God of the Lord Jesus Christ has equipped His Church for His ministerial work.
Ephesians 4:12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
What we teach at New Life Haydock
There is one God who subsists in three persons each person being fully God: Father Son and Holy Spirit; co-equal and co-eternal.
The Bible : Is the inerrant inspired Word of God.
The Human Race : That all men and women, being created in the image of God, have inherent and equal dignity and worth.
The Lord Jesus Christ : That the Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man.
Salvation : Salvation is entirely a work of God’s grace and cannot be earned or is deserved.
The Holy Spirit : That He indwells all believers, brings assurance of salvation and produces increasing likeness to Christ.
The Church : The universal Church is the body of which Christ is the Head and to which all who are saved are a valuable part.
Baptism : The outward public sign and declaration of belief and obedience in and of Jesus Christ as Saviour.
The Lord's Supper : The Lord's Supper is the visible reminder of His death, His resurrection and of His return.
The Future : Jesus Christ will return again to raise the dead giving life to those who are elect and judgement to those not. Genesis 18:25 - Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?
